Meta Mondoville: navigating the impossible art of jumping the snark
This web blog was flattered by a useful charticle in the T.O. section of the weekend Globe and Mail, which results in more attention than writing a story for the newspaper, even though people are still paid to do the latter. But these are strange days. So, while many of those tethered to the journalistic profession are too neurotic to acknowledge the work of rivals, those who have taken to compulsive tweeting are more genuinely generous — for now. Like, ask someone to retweet something and — they usually do! Strange days, indeed. And, nine-and-a-half weeks into this trial, the resulting discussion generates a new form of 140 characters-to-the-editor. (While the editor was quite offline.)
Hunter S. Thompson surely qualifies for some sort of Godwin’s Law for journalism arguments, so that was the end of that, basically. But thanks everyone! We are working on it.
