Sue-Ann Levy conceals her love under a dessert dome

It’s the day before the by-election to replace Michael Bryant as the Member of Provincial Parliament for the St. Paul’s riding, and Progressive Conservative candidate Sue-Ann Levy is wondering where her opponent is — Dr. Eric Hoskins was a no-show to a Rogers Television debate moderated by Dale Goldhawk. She even watched the repeat the following day to make sure he wasn’t there. Should the Liberal Party retain the seat, and Levy goes back to her job as the Toronto Sun’s city hall columnist, at least she’ll have a psychological profile to show for it from The Globe and Mail: “Just because she’s a lesbian doesn’t mean she’s a good person,” said Councillor Kyle Rae of his Cruella-like critic. The feature also noted Levy presenting her partner with an engagement ring under a dessert dome at the Canoe restaurant — in spite of being told how cliché the idea was — but she was too timid to pop the corresponding question on the spot. For whatever it’s worth, Levy isn’t getting much love from the National Post, which ran a comment from Chris Selley stating she doesn’t stand a chance, and a report of her flailing at voter doorsteps in search of an issue. More bluntly, Conservative leader Tim Hudak using Levy as guinea pig to kick up a fuss about a new Harmonized Sales Tax just ain’t happening, according to those not bored senseless by dissecting such things.
